Sea Level to 10,000 Feet....all in one afternoon

Ioa Valley
Don't know what this is but it was huge. Like the size of a loaf of bread huge!

Ioa Valley
Haleakala Crater
This little doggie was not into its walk with his humans. It would run to catch up, but then sit. So funny!
The Kihei Crew watching the sunset.

Beautiful sunset on 09/22
......and there it goes.....

We did a lot yesterday. We took the drive into Ioa Valley first. I thought that we were going to get to go way into the valley, but I guess you only get to go into the Needle St Park. I was hoping to be able to see waterfalls and tropical areas. I guess if you want to do that you have to take a heli tour or a group lead hike. What we did see of Iao Valley was gorgeous.
Because we were not able to go farther in, we had a ton of time before we were suppose to be at our friends for dinner. So we decided to drive up to Haleakala Crater. We went from temps in the high 80's to low 60's. It felt wonderful! The view was incredible, and would have been even better if the clouds were not over the entire valley.
Then we went to Kihei to meet friends at their condo for dinner. They are not oceanfront like the condo we are in, but not much in Kihei is oceanfront. Just about all of it is across the street. So not a big deal at all. You can see the ocean from their place, you just have to cross the street and you are on a 4+ mile long stretch of beach. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a yummy bbq dinner.
Today is our last day before we pack up and head home tomorrow. I have enjoyed just relaxing and sitting around doing a lot of nothing!
