Light up the Weekend

Tonight we are headed to Seattle to spend the night at Bryan & Celina's and then tomorrow we are headed to Leavenworth, WA for their Christmas Lighting Ceremony. Can't wait! We love going to this little Bavarian themed town in the Cascade Mountains. We have never been there this time of year. We usually go in the Summer. It's a better drive and we like to stop at local fruit stands. We tried to find hotel rooms, but everything was booked. We found out that people book almost a year in advance so that they can go this weekend. Since there were no rooms, we booked a bus trip from Seattle. This will be nice too. We will be picked up in Lynwood, and then driven to Leavenworth to spend the day. And then about an hour after the Lighting Ceremony we get back on the bus to have someone else do all the driving! Sounds good to us!

I will take pics and post a couple here and more on myspace on Sunday.

Have a great weekend!!!

Oh Barb, that sounds like HEAVEN, We have something very similar like this in Michigan its a town called Frankenmuth, its all German, They are famous for their Chicken Dinners, served family style, they start you off with chicken noodle soup, and all different kinds of German breads, my favorite is the stollen YUMMY, (they have a bakery you can buy some to take home) then they give you Salads galore, chicken salad, coleslaw, macaroni salad, potatoe salad, cranberry relish salad, and a few more, then for the main dish, is All the Fried Chicken you can eat, buttered noodles, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetable in season, maybe some more things, but I know they end your dinner with a dish of soft service ice cream and a cookie. They also have 2 Hotels, that book up fast. The Middle School kids go on field trips there we leave at 8:00 am and get home at 8:00 pm, I went with my oldest last year and I am gonna go with Vincent next year.

John and I always try and take the kids there once a year and spend the night at the hotel, its so much fun, the hotels have so much to do, pools, game rooms, put put golf. I wanna go NOW!!!! LOL

I hope you enjoy yourselves tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my Birthday, so I am gonna try and get my tree up and finish the rest on Sunday, then we are going to Church for 6:00 pm mass, then going to Andiamos Italian Restaurant (the best in town) for dinner.

Ok....You seriously just talked about my 2 of may favorite meals! Italian and chicken! I'm going to google that town. Robert and I have started a list of places we want to travel to here in the states. So far we have places in Chicago, Philly, Boston, LA, and Washington DC that we want to go to. I am going to go now and check out the place you are talking about!
If I don't make it back on here tomorrow night, have a very very Happy Birthday! Darn....I should have asked for your address so that I could have made you a card. I just mailed Glynis's card yesterday.

OMG, little Bavarian type town. I want to go!!!! Barbara I love German atmosphere so very much!
ReneeEve OMG, another German town! take me there! I want to go. I want to go!
Oh what I wouldn't give for a true Wienersnitzel veal cutlet smothered in brown gravy with German potato salad (no sauerkraut) and of course some pom frits and Stollen or Pumpernickel brot. I can speak German but my spelling is lousy. I love German desserts. I love their customs of serving guests a half dozen cakes to choose from.
I just went back to my happy place. What a wonderful blog but now I want to go on a trip myself! We are going to go to the san Antonio Riverwalk and see the magnificant lights and take a boat ride with Santa and listen to the choirs sing Christmas carols. Tomorrow night we are going to the city's annual Christmas party. There will be the lighting of a 10 story tall tree and cocoa and hot cider given out. Santa will arrive by helicopter. There will be a parade of lights at the yacht basin.
Okay now I'm getting excited!!!!

OK Barb! It is only 1-1/2 hours to Leavenworth from my home... I might stalk you. Oh darn, nevermind, we have plans this weekend too (not as fun as yours though!)

Actually, I am not surprised that you and hubby are headed to Laevenworth. I just KNOW he is looking for a place to wear his lederhosen and do the chicken dance. Or maybe it is the thought of you in your dirndl with flowers in your bosom?? Nice images there.

OK, truth be know: I used to do German folk dancing in Baltimore and we all had matching dirndles. There, are you happy and laughing now?

Renee, your dinner description made me so darn hungry! I might have to fry some chicken this weekend... or go out for it on my geburtstag! ;0)

I hope everyone's weekend is WUNDERBAR!! Barb, wave as you go by on the bus!! (though you are probably going over Hwy 2.)

Glynis you crack me up. I was in Ross chat and was going back and forth typing German with someone. I had 3 people docked and heard CG or someone speak and ask what on earth are they doing. Scrappy or JAC sighed loudly and replied they are speaking German.
Hi Adri! :)
I'm going to run over to Kohls. They are having a big midnight madness sale. I need more madness in my life so off I go! :0)
